Past the Pitch

About

Past the Pitch is a project I started after seeing a teammate’s interview published on a small website — a good idea, told quickly. I wanted to build something with more room: a real home for the stories collegiate athletes carry once the season, and eventually the sport itself, is behind them.

I’m Krish Chawla, a Computer Science student at SUNY Fredonia. I built this site, and I conduct and write every interview myself.

Past the Pitch started with Fredonia Women’s Soccer, a team I already work closely with through scouting and analytics. The plan is to grow it — more Fredonia teams first, then other schools and sports over time.

How stories get made

Every profile starts with a real conversation — usually 30 to 45 minutes, in person or on a call. I write up what we talk about as a narrative piece, not a transcript, and every athlete reviews their story before it goes anywhere near this site. Nothing gets published without their approval.

Know someone with a story?

If you played a sport in college and have a story worth telling — or you know someone who does — I’d love to hear from you. Head to the contact page to reach out.
